In this episode, Ted @TheRealTedBaird and I navigate across a windy bay, pushing through the first large headwater lake of our journey. As we continue, we encounter a stunning rapid that forces us into an unexpected detour. The river’s water levels are notably low, presenting a significant challenge. What we hoped to run smoothly now requires a series of portages and wading through shallow sections. Our progress is slow, with a few long portages eating up much of our time and energy. We only manage to cover about six kilometers for the day.
Despite the tough conditions, our efforts are rewarded with an incredible campsite perched atop a high turret. The panoramic views are breathtaking, offering a sweeping vista of the surrounding landscape. However, the beauty comes with a downside—the bugs are relentless, adding an extra layer of discomfort to our stay.
