A clean crosswind takeoff in the taildragger

Follow
Aviana Aircraft Detailing

Demonstration of a Crosswind takeoff in a taildragger. Generous use of aileron keeps the wind from lifting up your upwind wing while producing adverse yaw to help counteract the weathervane tendency of a taildragger on the ground.

We also roll into the wind to keep from side loading the landing gear (which increases the chance of a ground loop). We use the ailerons to set our leftright position on the runway while using rudder to keep the nose pointing where we want it. once airborne you can crab into the wind to maintain runway central line and wings level.
