Abraham Lincoln was the newly elected president when he departed Springfield, Illinois in February of 1861 for a 12day trip, 5state trip to Washington for the eventual inauguration.

A group known as the Blood Tubs made plans to assassinate Lincoln in Baltimore when he switched train cars in Baltimore.

This is the story of how that assassination attempt was eventually thwarted thanks to a federal agent infiltrating the group and learning of the plan.
