Cordoba is a great day trip (or longer) from Madrid. While the drive from Madrid to Cordoba is at least four hours, the highspeed train will cut that time in half.

Cordoba’s train station is just a short walk from the Old Town..

The Great MosqueCathedral, or Mezquita Catedral, is perhaps Cordoba's bestknown landmark.
The UNESCO World Heritage Site is expansive, and was originally built as a mosque.

Cordoba’s Alcazar is a fortresspalace complex. The gardens, courtyards, and walls are open to tourists. Some of the gardens have been restored to reflect their original designs, with geometrics and fountains from their Islamic origins.

Outside, crossing Cordoba’s Roman Bridge offers the best views of the city itself.
It was used as a backdrop in “The Game of Thrones.”

Cordoba is also famous for its patios and courtyards, which open to the public each year for a festival in May.

The city’s narrow streets are home to shops and restaurants.
The whitewashed buildings were once part of Cordoba’s Jewish Quarter.

Remember, it gets into the upper 90s during the summer months, so April, May, October and November are milder, with temperatures in the 70s each day.
