Branda is a mountain place, where shepherds and herds were headed at the beginning of the hottest months, starting in May. There are two types of Brandas; Cattle brands and the cultivation brands The Branda de Sto António, located at an altitude of about 1100 m, on a raised ground, where there was better land for grazing cattle and farming. It is a mild cattle that over time became mixed Branda. The main characteristic of this Branda is the concentration of shelters of dry stone (without joints) covered in stone with what is called a false cupola. These constructions are distributed around the natural paths used by the shepherds, existing in one of the derivations of paths a wide one with cruise. These constructions are called Cortelhos or Cardenhas, and are apparently rudimentary constructions, that take advantage of the relief of the land, and some to have two floors, where the shepherd could stay overnight in the upper floor, and the cattle was in the bottom, or in the enclosure exterior called a heifer protected by loose stone walls. These shelters are of rectangular or square plan between 46m of side, with double wall, with bigger slabs in the wedges, and their spans created by slabs, two lateral "tranqueiras", and a superior "lintel". Its interior is dark and cold, in a corner there is a slab of fire, where the fire was made to make food and provide heat, next to this was a small hole in the wall where the man was storing the iron pots to cook.
