According to legend it was the fairy Melusine who constructed the mighty towers of CoudraySalbart. Historical and archaeological research shows us that this medieval fortress was actually built by the lords of Parthenay in the 13th century. It resulted in a stateoftheart medieval fortress with very unique features such as corridors inside the walls and almondshaped towers. As the castle was never altered after its initial construction we can still enjoy this 13th century masterpiece in its original form today.
