A powerful power supply with voltage regulation is an indispensable element for tuning and debugging electronic devices. Such a power supply unit can be assembled with several inexpensive parts. This video discusses how to make a power supply with voltage regulation up to 24 V and a maximum load current of 10 A. It is considered how to choose the correct transformer according to the calculated parameters. Also on a real example is shown the principle of calculation and selection of fuse parameters, connecting wires, diode bridge and electrolytic capacitor.
In the second part of the video, the main characteristics of the remaining elements relating to voltage regulation and stabilization will be considered.
Separately attention is paid to the parameters of the electrolytic capacitor and calculation of the required capacitance for smoothing the ripple of the rectified voltage. Also, an explanation is given as to why when the capacitor is connected, the voltage increases with the load switched off.
All electrical processes occurring in the circuit are shown on an oscilloscope and are accompanied by a detailed explanation.
A powerful power supply with a voltage regulation from 1.5 V to 24 V with a current of 10 A, assembled in accordance with the above scheme, will last a long time and will cover more than 80% of the needs, which will greatly help the novice electronics engineer.
