I love bothies.

Bothies are a great alternative to wild camping every now and then, and increasingly in our modern world places that exist on the kindness and hard work of strangers are few and far between.

Bothies are the exception.

There are few purpose built bothies in the UK, most are repurposed shepherds cottages or old farmhouses and in staying in one it is easy to imagine times past.

We explored four bothies on our trip, Greensykes, Dryfehead, Overphawhope and Brattleburn but there are many more, even just in this corner of Scotland.

That's the great thing with exploring bothies: I will run out before they do.
