This chordal trick is insanely simple, and will make you sound like a pro!

The idea is to approach the voicing from a halfstep above, followed by a halfstep below. This creates a hip, 'outside' kind of sound with minimal effort on your part.

You can use this concept with any voicing, in any progression in any context. It works especially well when playing neosoul / hip hop.
