This tutorial demonstrates how to do this wonderfully neat and tidy, invisible cast on for doubleknitting, especially for working in the round.

It leaves a fantastically tidy edge, without any hard seam, and looks a lot like the two sides have been grafted together using Kitchener stitch, making it the perfect companion to that kind of bind off.
