In tribute to the lost crew of B36D 492658. This aircraft, assigned to the 436th Bombardment Squadron, 7th Bomb Wing based at Carswell AFB near Fort Worth, Texas, was lost during a training mission over central Oklahoma on Friday, April 27, 1951. An F51D piloted by an Oklahoma ANG pilot collided with the bomber during training exercises, killing the Mustang pilot and 13 of the 17 men aboard the bomber. This same B36 crew was featured that very night on CBS' popular radio series 'Hear It Now' program presented by Edward R. Murrow. In tribute to all of those brave men and women who gave their lives for their country during the Cold War. Gone, but never forgotten.
