A Trip to the Clouds: An 'average' day on Mt. Washington

Follow
True New England

With this video we had a fantastic and unique opportunity to spend a whole day on New England’s tallest peak, sitting at 6,288 feet, Mt. Washington.

Notorious for its inclement weather, it’s hard to think about New England without having an image of Mt. Washington somewhere in your mind. As a centerpiece of tourism to New Hampshire, and the rest of the region, over 300,000 people, by train, car, or foot, visit the state park located at the summit every year. However, there is so much about the mountain, and the summit, that people don’t know.

Why is there a State Park located at the summit? What is the drive on the auto road like? The summit building and the train are separate entities? What does the state park staff do?

We attempt to answer these questions, and many more, as we speak with the State Park Manager, and a couple of park staff members, while also exploring the mountain’s history via the Cog Railway and the Mt. Washington Auto Road.

So come with us and enjoy a day on Mt. Washington!
