I quit my teaching job after only a year and a half. I also just moved to Houston, TX from Panama City, FL.

The truth is that teaching is by far the most stressful job that I've ever had in my life! Teaching was even more stressful than the military! I can honestly see why teachers are quitting the profession at rapid rates.

However, there are also a lot of teachers that are not quitting but that are suffering from mental and physical health issues. There are teachers that have been in the classroom for a long time and that are barely hanging on. These teachers are amazing people and are truly trying to do what's best for students but they are killing themselves in the process.

This video is not to encourage all teachers to leave the profession but it's to let those teachers that have given everything that they have, that have tried to make it work, that have nothing left to give, know that they have already done enough! No one can put a timetable on that. It may be one year or it may be 10 years but your mind, body, and soul will ultimately let you know if you have given it your all.

This is the message that I wish that I could've heard when I was in a dark place and I was battling with myself about if I should keep teaching or let it go. I hope that this video finds that teacher that is dealing with depression or other mental health issues and are trying to decide if they should quit teaching or not.
