Balloon flowers, or Platycodon grandiflorus is a species of herbaceous flowering perennial plant of the family Campanulaceae, and the only member of the genus Platycodon, It is commonly known as balloon flower (referring to the balloonshaped flower buds). In Japan, known as kikyo, the starshaped blooms represent the five elements of Taoism. The Victorian language of flowers interprets these flowers as symbols of endless love and honesty.
