~ Do check one other video before starting! I forgot to add that some of you may well need to activate the "map to all siblings" option in the option.txt file in order to use that timesaver. This is really simple to do here's a video that covers that    • Enable Map To Siblings In Ableton Live

This tutorial shows you how to quickly build a powerful yet simple instrument rack in Ableton Live that contains multiple instruments, yet all controlled by macros that map across all instances. This means you achieve many important things; you stop looking around for sounds that you like, you have your favourites all in one place, you build up a device that you can add to and improve over time, you can grab the key parameters quickly, and if you use Push or a controller you can avoid touching your mouse and keyboard when looking for new sounds. All these things let you stay in your creative flow, the most valuable thing there is.

This is a classic technique, but I've added one or two new elements, for example how to reduce the CPU load involved with loading multiple instruments, and how you can build the rack efficiently and very, very quickly. Let me know in the comments below if you have any comments or questions.

This tutorial can be followed with any version of Ableton Live, from Intro to Suite. It can be followed by intermediate students, but is also very relevant for beginners and advanced users.

About me:
I'm making new tutorials for Ableton Push & Live, and I'm also building online courses to help us all get more out of Push and Live. I'd love to hear from you where you're currently at, your experiences learning Ableton Live and Push so far, and where you'd like to go. Please let me know in the comments. I'll feed this into what I'm building.

If you're stuck in other ways, creatively, why not check out my podcast on all the invisible struggles that surround being creative: https://anchor.fm/andrisoren

I've taught thousands of students Ableton Live and Push, at different levels, in different countries and even in different languages. This has mostly been in the classroom so far, and here on my YouTube channel, but now I'm taking it online like never before. I've been a product specialist for Ableton for years, performed in large venues as a musician and spoken at TEDx on how I make music. I love watching people progress and discover the software and hardware that I love.

Thanks for watching,

Andri
