Ray Hoare talks to us about the 'invisible workplace bully' that is casual absence' and the real lack of regard for the impact on colleagues who have to fill in for the missing colleague.

His talk recommends we take a more proactive, forthright and honest approach to have those taking such leave consider the wider implications of their actions and ultimately mend their ways for their colleagues but also for their own longer term reputation.

Ray is a seasoned Human Resources practitioner. His areas of HR expertise include Employee Relations and engagement, Staffing, Performance Management, Change Management and Workplace Wellbeing. His HR career spans multiple industries across North America, Europe, and Asia. He also produces a HR Podcast – The HR Hour which discusses challenging workplace topics with industry leaders and content experts.

A native of Dublin, Ireland, Ray lives in Ratoath with his wife and family. He has an honours degree in Business and Human Resource Management as well as a Fellowship with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. He is a qualified Mediator and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Employment Law, He lives in Ratoath, with his wife and family.

Ray has spoken at several HR Conferences and is passionate about helping companies to engage with and develop their best assets – their people. Outside of his day job, Ray is involved in many other aspects within his community. He has completed several volunteer assignments with Special Olympics Ireland, he sings with the Ratoath Folk Group and can be seen treading the boards on the stage with the Venue Players drama group This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
