Justice Ujjal Bhuyan of Gauhati High Court has ordered that private entities (offices, shops, malls, cinemas, restaurants, hotels, gyms, schools, colleges, hospitals etc.) are also liable to provide accessible services to the persons with disabilities. The basis of this order could be found in the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act (2016). Justice Bhuyan's order came on a petition filed by Arman Ali, Executive Director, Shishu Sarothi. This could turn out to be a landmark decision in making India accessible for everyone.
