Accurascale Class 92 Long term review (Video 13)

Hi and welcome to the channel

In today's video I'll talk about my Accurascale cl 92 of which I own 2, the problems I've had with them and the solutions I've found.

First I'll start exploring what I generally think of this model and then I'll go into details.

I think for the price of these models, both of which are DCC sound fitted by the factory, they represent amazing value for money. They are incredibly detailed. Powerful and with two operating pantographs fun to play with. The details fitted out of the box are wonderful although you do need to read the manual before using.

This explains how to unclip ( and this is important to know) the pantographs before attempting to use the sound functions.

The pantographs are delicate so care is needed when handling the models,

Changing the couplings can be problematic as the nem pocket comes away very easily and proved reluctant to stay in place after I refitted it. This was cured by a tiny amount of super glue to keep them in place.

The bufferbeam detail is easy to fit. Again I used a dot of super glue to keep them attached.

The stay alive is both a blessing and a curse. Due to the momentum preprogrammed when using the sound functions if the loco is headed for disaster hitting the e stop on the DCC controller has no effect until the stay alive drains .this takes Several seconds in fact. On the other hand it does make up for dirty track and both are in my top 10 as reliable runners.

One of mine had issues with the middle bogie wheels being slightly lower than the others which created a rocking motion and led to derailments over point work. The same model also blew its decoder for no apparent reason. My track is protected from shorts and over currents by a DCC concepts intelligence circuit protectors and the model was working fine one day, then dead the next.

Accurascale were contacted and took it back under warranty with no hassle and had a replacement with me within a week. I'd call that excellent customer service. They even paid postage both ways.

I'm extremely happy with the locos and the customer care from Accurascale and rate them 10 out of 10.
