So after the release of Air Combat, Namco knew that they had a new hit on their hands. The game sold over 2 million copies, yet the dev team at the time felt like they could’ve made a better game than they did. Wanting to improve things like graphics and gameplay, the team immediately got to work on a sequel, and after a couple years of hard work, Ace Combat 2 was born. Ace Combat 2 is a 1997 air combat video game developed and published for the PlayStation by Namco. It is the sequel to Air Combat and the second in the Ace Combat franchise. The player controls one of 24 different fighter jets through 21 different missions with certain objectives to fulfill, such as protecting a base from enemy fire, intercepting a squadron of enemies, or taking down an aircraft carrier.
