This video demonstrates the ACID FAST STAINING technique. Acid Fast Staining Procedure is a differential staining procedure used to differentiate bacteria into acidfast and nonacidfast bacteria.
acidfast bacteria have a waxy cell wall made from complex hydrocarbon known as mycolic acid. This difference in cell wall composition makes bacterial cells react differently to acidfast stains.
After a successful Acid Fast staining procedure, Acid Fast bacteria appear red in color and nonacid Fast bacteria appear blue in color.
