As we’re going to explore in this video, the game we’re talking about in today’s video is indeed the ultimate “lost in translation” experience – from the history and circumstances surrounding the game itself, all the way down to the ludic systems that govern the momenttomoment gameplay.

It was firmly intended to be the final, consoledefining, largescale international PlayStation 1 blockbuster before it gave way to the PS2 – but in the last moment, Sony Interactive cut the game’s marketing budget and scrubbed its international release, condemning it to a small, domesticonly launch in Japan and due to its convoluted code, it became known as a game that was impossible to translate even by the most dedicated fantranslators/romhackers.
Until just recently. We’ll get to all of this and more over the course of this video!

All of this made it a game that, among retro gaming enthusiasts, became more fabled and mistshrouded than the realworld mountain which originated its title:

Aconcagua.
