Hello!

Every now and again there is a breakthrough that happens within one's process. For quite some time, I have been experimenting with acrylics to try and make them look like an oil painting. I think I have finally found a formula that works for me so I thought I would share it with all of you.

So, in this contemporary acrylic portrait I use a combination of realism and abstract elements with a mixture of heavy body acrylics, Golden Open Acrylics and some high flow acrylics.

The background colors:
Warm Gray Master's Choice (Hobby Lobby)
Blue Gray Master's Choice (Hobby Lobby)
Green Gray Master's Choice (Hobby Lobby)
Warm White Master's Choice (Hobby Lobby)
Burnt Umber Liquitex Heavy Body
Payne's Gray Liquitex Basics

Skin Tone Mixes with Golden Open Acrylics

2. Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium Yellow, Ultramarine Blue, Titanium White
3. Alizarin Crimson, Yellow Ochre, Manganese Blue, Titanium White
