Adcock u0026 Shipley milling machine restoration - part 11 (cotter for support arm)

In this video I make the cotter to secure the over arm bracket to the support bar of my Adcock and Shipley 1A milling machine. I wanted to ensure that this cotter would effectively provide plenty of clamping force so I decided to produce a general arrangement drawing. The cotter was machined on my Super 7 lathe and the milling machine.
It was found that in use the cotter provides ample clamping force with just a light use of a spanner on the 1/2in Whitworth nut.
in the next video I hope to do an analysis of how the cotter works to explain why it is so effective. Also I plan to complete this phase of the project.
