A quick guide to adding a CSV file to QGIS the correct way ensuring you include any geometry and identify field types correctly (text, integer, decimal etc).

It is possible to simply drag and drop CSVs into QGIS, but this won't pick up your geometry or correct field types. This means that even if your CSV doesn't include geometry, you can run into problems down the line. However, you can easily avoid this with a few extra seconds of effort!
