Adding loose watercolour to my fountain pen drawing

Follow
John Harrison

So, here's the colour stage of my last drawing: I set myself a 15 minute limit to add the loose watercolour, but missed it! As I mention in the commentary, I'm deliberately trying not to colour in carefully, but just let the loose nature of wet washes do what they will. I say 'trying' but my designer's natural tidiness took over, so the finished piece is a ix of careful placement and loose washes.
The Daniel Smith colours I used in this demonstration are Cobalt Blue, quinacridone gold, quinacridone Sienna, Paynes blue grey, Indigo and yellow ochre. The drawing was done in an A5 Moleskine watercolour sketchbook, with the initial line work created with my lovely brass Kaweco sport, filled with waterproof Sketch Ink from Rohrer & Klingner.

as always, please feel free to ask away with anything I haven't covered, either in the comments below, or by email to [email protected]
