Extremely happy to have finally caught and videoed an active DC9 upclose! Been waiting a while for this. It came in unexpectedly early in the morning of March 24 from Laredo (LRD) and sat here for over 2 days. Unfortunately, a Citation decided to start its APU right before engine start, so I couldn’t really hear the spoolup on takeoff. But man, the video doesn’t do justice on how loud this thing actually is (first time hearing this inperson), not to mention the hot exhaust from the jet blast and that rocketlike takeoff. Also got some waves/thumbsup from the captain! Can’t wait to hopefully catch some more of these rare beauties in the future.
