After President Biden had officially concluded the American military mission in Afghanistan, the Taliban (organisation banned under Russian law) took over the country without facing much resistance from the National Army of Afghanistan.

I was there just a couple of days before it happened and saw the state of the country on its last days before the fall. I saw the serious flaws in the security system, I saw the poverty and hopelessness that Afghani society lived in. Essentially, these were people sick and tired of years and years of war. I managed to hop on one of the last planes leaving the Kabul airport and was probably among the last journalists reporting from there.

So, here is what life in Afghanistan looked like before the radicals came to power.
