Harnessing the power of artificial intelligence, Intensive Care Specialists Dr James Winearls and Professor John Fraser aim to create a stateoftheart early warning system that filters the cacophony of alarms to pinpoint significant changes in patient conditions.

With support from a Wesley Research Institute grant, this project aims to transform how healthcare professionals interpret the vast amounts of data generated by life support machines. The clinicians plan to focus on early detection of patient deterioration, particularly among those on mechanical ventilation.

This innovation not only promises to improve patient outcomes but also alleviate the burden on ICU staff, enabling them to deliver even more personalised and effective care.
