Airline's Most Junior Pilot = Reserve Schedule

Swayne Martin

Cockpit scenes filmed with approval, in partnership with Envoy Air Inc, under Part 91... As a new airline pilot, you'll likely experience some form of a "reserve schedule" right after you finish IOE. There's a LOT to cover on how reserve works, so I'll break it down into the most basic components, regardless of which airline you'll fly for!

Being "oncall" during reserve isn't always easy, especially when you're a commuter and don't live in base. You'll spend more time away from home than a normal "line schedule," and generally fly less. It's something that almost everyone experiences at multiple points throughout their career when they're a junior Captain or First Officer compared to other pilots inbase. Make sure to learn the reserve rules for each airline you'd like to apply for!
