Keflavik is the international gateway and home of Icelandair, even though it is not exactly near the capital city of Iceland, Reykjavik. Icelandair has grown a lot and play is currently another airline (or player??) offering transfer connections between Europe and North America, so Keflavik airport needed to keep up to allow the capacity for this growth. The terminal building is not exactly new, but the pier with many of the gates has been added and provides a modern feeling. Just make sure you don't depart from any one of the Agates!
