It is located in the Eyjafjordur Fjord and boasts a waterfront city with plenty to do in and out of town. Most visitors will head to Lake Myvatn and the ‪@myvatnnaturebaths7746‬ , the Lava formations and troll hiding places, the active geothermal area, false craters, Godafoss, and the caves with iridescent pools.

In town, you can climb the church steps for views over the fjord, visit the new Forest Lagoon to bathe in warm waters freed by the building of the Akureyri Tunnel. Whale watching, kayaking and hiking make great outdoor activities.
