Take a look at Alafia River State Park, our updated video for 2023. We have visited this park three times now. It is convenient for us to visit family in the area. However, you will love the trail system here if you are a hiker, biker, or horseback rider. There is a small run in the park accessible by the South Prong hiking trail, but if you are looking for the Alafia River, you'll need to drive a few miles away.

Alafia River State Park, while large in size, has a small campground with only 30 sites. Sites 1 12 are equestrian campsites. Sites 13 30 are the regular sites. All sites are electric and water, but a dump station is conveniently located between the two loops. The bathhouse is located there as well. The park now has three glamping tents available for rent with some of the nicest "living" areas that we have seen in our travels. There are stalls, small paddocks for horses, and room to park a horse trailer nearby.

Nearby Riverview, Brandon, and Tampa have anything that you might need. There are other recreational opportunities in these areas. Lithia Springs is a little closer and does have a first come, first serve campground. If you need lastminute supplies, there is a little store about two miles away from the park.

HEADS UP: Google will send you down a narrow country road. Stay on 39 and you'll find the park. Do not turn on Jameson Road or Thatcher Road.

On to our next stop! Happy travels to all!
