RS Drums is Anup Sastry & I's business, & we just released The Fairview Kit a new virtual drum instrument. We're incredibly stoked on it, & we think you will be too. So please check it out!

ANYWAYZ(!):

Here's another cover on my continual quest to learn / record my favorites from the early 2000's () "Conquer All" from 'Demigod' by #BEHEMOTH ! Like many of these random covers I've done in the last couple of years, I was able to get the album stems for this song b/c of a rad dude in my Patreon (thanks brotha!). However, the stems did not come with an accurate tempo map... & if you can't tell, there're a whole lotta tempo changes goin' on (). Moreover, this song (& I assume the whole album) wasn't tracked to a click. So... I had to MAKE a tempo map!

I've done this before tempo mapped a song that wasn't originally tracked to a click. But I can honestly say that this was the hardest one I've had to do (so far, at least!). Not only is the tempo fluctuating pretty much the entire time, but there're also some fairly large tempo jumps that last only a few notes / bars sometimes. Eventually, I was able to map it (thanks to a lot of time/patience, & also a bit of elastic audio usage), but then came learning it...! Originally, I wanted to try to do all the blast beats as rimshotblasts for this song... but lemme tell ya'll. Just trying to play tight with this fluctuating click/track proved to be plenty tough enough. Lol! All that said while this song was surprisingly difficult, I've gotta say... I think the end result is pretty rad! Learning a song like this trying to emulate the original drummer & his feel is a really interesting (& fun) challenge. I've always quite enjoyed that. I did have to change a few things (broke up the crazy fast single stroke fills a bit towards the end ... few other little things like that), but overall, I tried my best to stick to the original! I hope you enjoy it!

Big ol' thanks to Declan White for the slammin' mix, too! Declan's mixed most of my stuff in recent years, & he absolutely kills it. TBH, half the time, I can't even believe how much life he pulls out of everything. It rules (& so does he!). Thanks D00DE!
