It is used in Vitamin D and Calcium deficiency
Renal osteodystrophy
Hypocalcemia
Hyperphosphatemia
Vitamin D dependent rickets
Renal tubular osteomalacia

Side effects
Nausea and vomiting
Itching
Skin rashes
Abdominal pain
CNS depression
Constipation
Drowsiness
Hypercalcemia
Thirst

Special precautions
Can be contraindicated in hypercalcemia hypermagnesemia and hyperphosphatemia
Take precaution in Renal impairment
Regular monitor serum levels
Hypercalciuria

Interaction
Phenobarbitone may reduce activation of alfacalcidol into calcitriol

Dose :
Adult 1mcg/day
Elderly 0.5mcg/day
Children under 20kg 0.05mcg/kg/day
