Algerian Police Followed Me into the Desert

Cycling the world Europe: 155 episode
In the fifth episode of my roundtheworld bike tour in Algeria, I wake up at my wild camping spot with a wet tent due to overnight rain and colderthanexpected temperatures. As I hit the road, I’m invited by locals for lunch, experiencing incredible hospitality. After one more climb, I reach the start of the desert and am in awe of the stunning landscape. Finding a camping spot takes a bit longer, but the full moon and dry, warmish night make it worthwhile. The next day, after another lunch invitation, I’m stopped by the police and questioned for over an hour, resulting in an unexpected police escort. Instead of camping in the mountains of Bou Saada, I end up staying in a highend hotel due to fully booked cheaper options on a busy Thursday night.
