This video explains every Cart Titan in the Attack on Titan anime and manga. The Cart Titan is one of 9 titan shifters in AOT and there have been several iterations of it throughout the AOT timeline. In the AOT manga we have currently seen more Cart titans than in the anime, which has only had 1 Cart Titan so far (Pieck Finger). The manga displays Cart Titans of the past, such as the Okapi titan and the Wolf cart titan.

In this video I explain every Cart Titan in the history of the Attack on Titan.

When the cart titan was first introduced in the manga it looked different to how it later appeared and the reason was that this manga version was a man called Oliver Pieck. Isayama released sketches of Oliver Pieck’s face online. By the time the cart titan was shown in the anime, Pieck had already been firmly established as a woman in the source material, so it meant that Oliver Pieck’s titan never appeared onscreen.

The cart titan is the only shifter that walks on all fours besides the jaw titan and it’s main ability is it’s endurance. This endurance manifests itself in various ways, with an example being how Pieck remains in her titan form for months at a time. In the Marley arc she needed a crutch to walk because she’d been the cart titan for two months straight, so she’d forgotten how to walk on her human legs. That’s why Pieck was lying down during the warriors meeting instead of sitting up like the rest of them and also why she was caught by Porco Galliard crawling on all fours.

Another use for the cart titans endurance is its ability to do consecutive titan transformations. When it comes to the cart titan, Pieck confirmed in attack on titan chapter 137 that the cart titan can do hundreds of consecutive transformations. Additionally, the cart titan can be equipped with cargo, armor, and/or weapons. On top of all that, running on all fours gives it an incredible speed, enabling it to catch Levi and Hanji by surprise and save the lives of her fellow warriors in the process. Anyway with all that said, let’s get into the backstory of Pieck Finger, followed by a look at the ancient cart titans throughout history.

Pieck is a Marlyean warrior from the Liberio internment zone. From a young age Pieck was raised by her father alone, with her mother never being mentioned once in the series. Whilst she was still a child her father was overcome with a serious illness, but as poor eldians they didn’t have access to the necessary medical care to treat it. This served as Pieck’s primary motivation to join the Marlyean warrior unit, as warrior families are given good proper medical care, most likely because they are honorary marlyeans. Pieck was chosen as the cart titan. When the time came for Marley to invade Paradis island, Zeke and Pieck were chosen by the army to stay behind in Liberio because their presence was needed to deter enemy nations. Five years into the mission Marley hadn’t heard anything from Reiner, Annie and Bertolt, so the two remaining warriors went to visit the island along with a few Marlyean soldiers. The cart titan was used to carry many supplies, including this special gas containing Zeke’s spinal fluid, which turned the people of Ragako into titans.

A couple months later she was utilised again during the battle of shiganshina, as it was Pieck that observed the survey corps soldiers the night before, and informed the warriors that the scouts were approaching. In the battle itself she was used as a means of transporting cargo such as rocks or the colossal titan, but her biggest achievement was when she singlehandedly saved the lives of both Zeke and Reiner respectively.

The first ancient titan we should talk about is Okapi cart titan, which swallowed Armin in the same manner that Pieck swooped in to save Zeke. I didn’t actually know what an okapi was until this titan made an appearance, but according to google it is a relative of the giraffe and there are only 22,000 currently in the world. Throughout history the heads of cart titans have always had animalistic features, with Pieck’s one having a face shaped like a mule, while the first cart titan in history had a mouth like a horse.
