In eurorack a sequential switch is one of the cheapest and simplest of modules, but I rarely see it used to create rhythms and textures, at least if I am to believe the multitude of eurorack videoes I have seen on YouTube. This technique is nothing new, but overlooked I think in the myriad of possibilites offered by modular. I guess it can be called wave slicing. You can use the simplest and cheapest of switches and still get good results, for example Doepfer A151 Quad Sequential Switch.
