Alquerque is a historic two player war board game, played through the Middle Ages and Renaissance, that was documented in Libro de los Juegos in 1283. This book was commissioned by Alfonso X of Castile in Spain. Prior to that, this game was mentioned as Quirkat in the Arabic 'Book of Songs' in the 10th century.
The object of the game is to capture all of your opponent's pieces.
One of the most famous descendants of Alquerque is Draughts.
For anyone curious about what exactly the 'SCA' is The Society for Creative Anachronism is an international, nonprofit educational organization that studies and recreates the medieval and Renaissance years of 6001600AD.
