Altering and modifying Grimme potato harvester axle.

In this video I alter an axle off of a Grimme potato harvester to better suit being used as a windrower.

I use the plasma cutter to cut off the old leveling ram brackets and grind flat. Next up is to arc air gouge off the welds that hold the hub assembly onto the box section, once this is off, its ground down and the excess that was gouged away is filled with weld and ground flat also. The hub assembly is then turned around and welded back on.
A reinforcement is added onto the other end where the tube slides into the machine. Some 10mm plate is cut out with the cnc plasma cutter and then pressed to shape with the press brake. Same process is done for the filler plate, this is then all tacked into place and fully welded around.
Last job is to make some new plates for the leveling ram brackets. These are cut from 15mm plate. Tacked into position, squared up and then welded on.

Hope you enjoyed the video.
Thanks for watching.
