Amazonia Lake Malawi: these people cut off from the world

imineo Documentaries

A watercourse of disproportionate proportions, the Amazon crosses South America for more than 7,000 kilometers. Essential, it constitutes the best and, often, only means of communication for many inhabitants of Brazil. Every week, the Amazon Star tirelessly connects the cities of Manaus and Belém over a distance of 1,600 kilometers. On board: up to 1,200 tonnes of cargo and 750 passengers, ready for the journey, which has 12 stops.
In Africa, Lake Malawi, the third largest on the continent, is home to pure waters where exceptional aquatic fauna live. With a length of 580 kilometers, it also has one of the greatest varieties of fish in the world. Many fishing villages were therefore formed along its banks. To transport as much building materials and food as the traders, fish sellers, fishermen, farmers and builders who live along the majestic lake, the Ilala has been crisscrossing Lake Malawi for almost half a century.
