An Update Drone Registration and Remote ID

Follow along in this video as I provide an update on FAA drone registration and remote ID. This is for recreational flyers only and does not concern with Part 107 commercial flyers.

For recreational pilots flying any sort of small unmanned aircraft, whether it is a quadcopter or a fixed wing RC model airplane, must have a registration number with the FAA. Recreational flyers need just one registration number that be used for all of their aircraft (note that Part 107 pilots need a registration number for each airplane). The registration needs to be renewed every three years for a cost of $5.

What is new now is that you need to add a "device" or aircraft to your FAA Drone Zone account listing various details of that aircraft along with remote ID information. This is all very new to the modeling community.

This video was filmed in June 2023. Note that the remote ID regulation does not come into effect until Sept 16, 2023.
