John Gibbons is a sports Osteopath and a lecturer for the 'Bodymaster Method ®' and in this video he is discussing "Tom, Dick, and Harry" and is a commonly used mnemonic in anatomy to remember the three tendons that pass behind the medial malleolus of the ankle. These tendons are the tibialis posterior, flexor digitorum longus, and flexor hallucis longus.

The tibialis posterior tendon runs behind the medial malleolus and attaches to the navicular, cuneiforms, and bases of the second, third, and fourth metatarsals. It plays a key role in maintaining the medial longitudinal arch of the foot, as well as in inversion and plantarflexion of the foot.

The flexor digitorum longus tendon also passes behind the medial malleolus and attaches to the distal phalanges of the second to fifth toes. It is responsible for flexion of the toes and inversion of the foot.

The flexor hallucis longus tendon is the most medial of the three tendons and attaches to the base of the distal phalanx of the big toe. It is responsible for flexion of the big toe and plantarflexion of the foot.

Remembering these three tendons is important for understanding the anatomy of the ankle and foot, as well as for diagnosing and treating conditions such as tendinopathy and tendon ruptures. Injuries or dysfunction of any of these tendons can lead to pain, weakness, and decreased function in the foot and ankle.
