SLICE Wild

A FrancoIndonesian scientific expedition ventures into a still unknown region of the island of Papua: the Lengguru Massif. For scientists, this very isolated territory is an openair laboratory. It harbors one of the richest biodiversity zones on the planet.

How have the species trapped in the massif for millions of years acclimatized? Have they developed new functions? What has changed in their diet, in their metabolism, in their morphology?

The expedition made several very intriguing encounters: a forest kangaroo, a cricket that emits surprisingly powerful ultrasound, and a large pigeon, from the mythical Dodo family, extinct centuries ago.

Samples taken from specimens found in Lengguru have been transferred to cuttingedge research laboratories. They will help science understand the evolution of the living world, and predict the future of our planet in a period of intense and chaotic change.
