Anglo Carnatic Wars: The British and the French companies which had entered the Indian subcontinent in the 17th century were at war by mid 18th century. These wars are called AngloFrench wars or Carnatic wars. These wars were also caused by the prevailing rivalry between these two nations
. By this time, the Mughal empire had been declining and new regional kingdoms were emerging. Both the European companies utilized the weaknesses of these smaller kingdoms and dragged them also in the wars. Finally, the British East India company was victorious and the French were
just reduced to keeping in possession of their factories merely for the purpose of trade. The British East India company gradually defeated subsequent Indian kingdoms and established its rule over India.
