You may have heard of snakes on a plane, but have you ever heard of snakes on an island? This episode of Wild Field Trip finds Coyote Peterson and guest host Sydney Hendrickson exploring Lake Erie’s snakecovered South Bass Island, where a classic tale of heroes and villains plays out every day. The hero in this story is the Lake Erie water snake, and the villain, an invasive fish species known as the round goby, is wreaking havoc in the ecosystem. Sydney and Coyote are sent out on a snake scavenger hunt to capture as many Lake Erie water snakes as they can, which will help with ongoing efforts to protect this critical species.
