Ep88. In this episode of Cruising Off Duty, we continue comparing Sailing Catamarans from the Annapolis Sailboat Show in terms of how we feel they would suit our needs as a full time Liveaboard future home.

In this episode we continue with two more boats. This time boats made by Lagoon. The Lagoon 380 (38') and the Lagoon 42. The next episode we will continue with two larger Catamarans from Lagoon. The 45' and the 52'.

Needless to say the bigger the boat the more you think you would like it. The rooms get bigger and the accommodations tend to get more upscale. But, we have to realize that when we sell everything and buy our future floating home, we will probably still not be able to afford a large, brand new Catamaran, so will be looking at one on the used market. That makes us take a hard look at these mass produced production boats even if they are not our favorite of all the available Catamarans.

If money was no option we would assuredly buy one of the Custom Catamarans that is built to suit the owners requested needs and come completely kitted out from the factory with everything you would need (Solar Power, Water Maker, Radar, AIS etc etc) for Living Aboard. Problem with boats like that, is they are very expensive when new and very few of them are built every year, so there are not that many on the used market. As such, the prices of these boats do not fall as far on the used market as the mass production boats such as the ones built by the 3 largest builders, Fountaine Pajot, Lagoon and Leopard.
