Anyway, recently I learned some of the Sicilian language and then went to Sicily and tried to use it there and it was pretty hilarious. On the beautiful island of Sicily people speak Italian but also the related language of Sicilian, which has a bunch of subdialects, and so I tried learning the Palermitan dialect which is spoken in the city of Palermo, and then I went to Palermo to try it out on the locals and because most people here speak this language only with family and friends and not in public they were quite surprised to see me speaking. Furthermore I feel like the people who taught me this language were messing with me because I unintentionally ended up learning the slangiest, dirtiest version of this language I could, and so it sparked all kinds of interesting reactions.
