This animation depicts the anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) at C34, C45 and C56. Disc material is extracted from the disc space between the vertebrae using rongeurs to prepare for drilling of the C34, C45 and C56 end plates. After the discectomy and foraminotomy are completed, an implant is inserted into the C34, C45 and C56 disc spaces. Finally a plate with screws is placed over the cages, stabilizing the vertebrae.
