Antidote AI - July 2022

University of Adelaide

As artificial intelligence enters the medical realm, whole new worlds of possibility are opening in health.

AI systems are detecting lung cancer, diagnosing diabetes, classifying skin disorders, and determining the best drugs to fight neurological disease—in many cases at faster rates than their human ‘colleagues’.

Yet as our technology rockets forward, medical regulations are not so quick to evolve. And AI training for healthcare workers is virtually nonexistent.

We may not need to worry about a ‘rise of the radiology machines’, but what safety concerns do have to be considered where machine learning meets medical science? What risks and potential harms should health workers be aware of? And what solutions can we get on the table to ensure this exciting field continues to develop?

Speakers: Dr Lauren OakdenRayner and Professor Lyle Palmer
