In this video, I take you through the complete restoration of a beautiful antique kitchen scale. This old scale was in a rough state, but with careful attention and the right techniques, I've brought it back to life.

The restoration process begins with a thorough disassembly of the scale to clean and restore each part individually. I first check if the original paint contains lead—it thankfully does not. The brass components are soaked in a mixture of flour, vinegar, and salt to gently remove dirt and tarnish. The other parts are sandblasted to eliminate rust and grime.

Once all the pieces are cleaned, it’s time for painting. The large parts are sprayed with fresh paint, while the smaller internal components are blued to protect against corrosion. Since the original scale plate was missing, I created a new one from aluminum. The numbers on the scale are engraved using precise laser engraving, giving the scale a stunning, authentic look.

Finally, I add green decorative details to the freshly whitepainted scale, completing the restoration. The highlight of this project is undoubtedly the new scale plate brought to life by the laser engraving.
